Manchester Basketball's men's team are to head to Belgium this summer to play two games as part of their preparation for the 2025-26 season.
MCR will face Belgium side Union Mons-Hainaut on Tuesday 26th August before taking on fellow BNXT league side Brussels Basketball on Wednesday 27th August.
"We’re excited to partner with Brussels Basketball and grateful for their invitation," commented Dominique Allen.
"From the outset, our ambition has been clear: to elevate Manchester Basketball—and the SLB as a whole—beyond domestic success and establish a lasting presence on the European."
The games form part of a wider partnership with Brussels Basketball which sees the two major cities connect on knowledge exchange, coaching clinics and age group visits.
"We are extremely happy and proud to welcome Manchester Basketball in Brussels", commented Serge Crevecoeur, Head Coach & GM of Brussels Basketball.
"We strongly believe in British basketball in general, and Manchester in particular, they have so much potential that it is strategic for us to develop strong contacts with them. We are convinced that it is the start of something strong that will enable both programs to further develop and get better.”
Brussels clinched a playoff birth finishing in 5th position this season and has numerous alumni players familiar to British fans, most recently Jelani Watson-Gayle and Jordan Harris playing for the Belgium side.
Brussels have a history of playing in European competition playing in the FIBA Europe Cup for the first time in the 2016–17 season.
Union Mons-Hainaut have competed in Europe regularly, most recently in the FIBA Europe Cup, Mons were founded in 1959 as Quaregnon. Again they are a side with notable alumni - Nate Reinking played between 2007-10, Nate's coach at that time was none-other than current Minnesota Timberwolves head coach and former Sheffield Sharks head coach Chris Finch.
