Manchester Basketball can confirm the signature of American guard Keon Thompson to the 2026-27 roster.

Keon played for Stephen F Austin Lumberjacks for the last two seasons having transferred from Umass. He was named the 2025-26 Southland Men's Basketball Player of the Year, after a historic regular season for the 'Jacks, scoring 18.1 points per game and totalling 560 points for the season.

Thompson earned the conference's Player of the Week award five times while finishing as the only player in the league ranking in the top five in points, points-per-game, assists and assists-per-game. He also earned a spot on the Southland First Team All-Conference.

“I’ve always believed that when you’re given an opportunity, it’s your job to make the most of it,” reflected Thompson.  “I’m excited to get to work and represent Manchester the right way.”

Head Coach Matt Otten commented on his new recruit:

“Keon Thompson is a physical guard that competes on defence.  His numbers stand out offensively as an all around guard but more impressively he’s coming from a winning program.  He has winning in his DNA and we look forward to having him bring that to us.”

The squad are due to start pre-season in Manchester later this month as they prepare for both European and domestic competitions.
