Manchester were edged out in Sheffield on Sunday in a fantastic game in the steel city.
Danni Williams was the stand out for Manchester with a game-high 22 points, to earn her MCR Player of the Game honours.
With Manchester on the second day of a back-to-back, Sheffield got out the traps early and led 25-19 at the end of the first. In the second quarter Manchester rallied and had the lead after a treble from Anastasia Warren and a Davida Dale drive to the basket had MCR up by two.
MB went in just a shot behind at the break but again it was Sheffield who started the brighter with Georgia Gayle and Madison Washington a constant threat for the Hatters. Gayle finishing the game on 16 and Washington 13 respectively.
The Hatters led 61-52 going into the fourth but with the experience of Anderson, Shaw and Thomas-Johnson, the team in black were able to close the gap and in the final flourishes rallied to draw level once again. As time ticked away the Hatters edged ahead by just one shot and Manchester can consider themselves unlucky not to have the bounce of the ball as Williams & Kennedy-Hopoate came close to giving Manchester victory in the final seconds.
Manchester return to action next Saturday when they host London Lions in their first league game of the new campaign, tickets still are available.
