Manchester Basketball are through to the Super League Basketball Cup Semi Final.
They took a dominant 92-67 win over the Bristol Flyers to get there, leading all four quarters and leading wire-to-wire.
Max Jones led the team with 23 points to continue his dominant run in 2026. He went 9-14 from the field and a red-hot 5-8 from three to grab the tie by the horns. Jordan Johnson provided an important 14 points off the bench.
Meanwhile, Matthew Nicholson looked as demeaning as ever in the paint to grab 11 rebounds. There’s been no answer for him on the board of late. This helped Manchester win the rebounding battle 44-25.
The victory can be credited to Manchester’s ability to knock down threes at a scorching hot rate. They went 14-27 from behind the line, while the Flyers made only four buckets from distance.
The host’s defence set the tone, however, holding Bristol to 10 points in the opening quarter ot build a double-digit lead. They led by 17 at the half because of this, then Manchester locked down the Flyers again in the third, holding them to 12 points and putting the game beyond doubt.
After the first quarter explosion, Manchester led by double digits throughout in one of the most complete displays of dominance of the season.
Manchester’s reward for beating Bristol is a two-legged Semi Final against the Surrey 89ers, who just beat Leicester Riders to make it through.
The second leg will be played in Manchester on Sunday, February 15 at 3pm.
