Manchester Basketball dominated the Cardiff Met Archers on their way to a resounding 100-47 victory.
Frannie Hottinger led the five Manchester starters, who all scored in double digits. Hottinger had 22 points and 9 rebounds on the game, going an incredible 10-13 from the field.
Maaja Bratka had 19 points in support of her, shooting 7-8. Manchester's starters missed a combined 13 shots on the night in a red-hot scoring display. They dominated the paint to score 70 points at the rim.
But it was the defensive end where the hosts really showed out. Manchester forced Cardiff into 31 turnovers and 27% shooting from the field. They capitalised with 39 points from those turnovers to run up the score.
It was clear what type of game this would be from the outset, as Manchester took a double-digit lead after one quarter. East and Hottinger then combined for 12 of the team’s 16 second-quarter points to make it a truly commanding lead at the break.
And they didn’t lift off the gas in the second half. Instead, they put on a show for the home fans, winning the first quarter by 17 points and the fourth by 18. Manchester ran through the finishing line, and their lead at the final buzzer, 53, was their biggest of the game.
They improved to 4-4 in the Super League Basketball Women’s Championship.
Manchester are back in action on Saturday, February 7, taking on Oaklands Wolves on the road at 5 pm in the league.
They then host the Wolves on Sunday, February 15, at 6 pm in Cup Semi Final action with the winner booking a spot in the Final in Manchester.
