Manchester Basketball fell in an overtime loss to the London Lions in the Women’s Super League Basketball Championship.

Tiarra East had 22 points and 6 rebounds to lead Manchester, and Frannie Hottinger had a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Maaja Bratka also had a double-digit rebound game with 10 on the boards.

London took a five-point lead with half a minute left in the game, before two clutch buckets from East forced an extra period. She scored a bucket with five seconds on the clock to tie it at 67 after regulation.

But Mya Proctor won the game for London on the buzzer, when buckets were hard to come by in the final minute of overtime. She had 21 on the game, and Annika Shah led the hosts with 22.

London was forced to work for this win and fight back from a deficit at the half. Manchester took an 11-point lead into the break by winning the second quarter 24-7.

Hottinger had 12 points in the second to lead Macnhester into the lead. But London responded in the third to bring the difference back to one score, then battled in a back-and-forth game down the stretch and won it in overtime.

Manchester returns to home action on Sunday, December 21 at the National Basketball Performance Centre, taking on Oaklands Wolves in the Women’s Super League Basketball Championship.
