Manchester Basketball have landed in Weißenfels preparing for the European North Basketball League (ENBL) 2026 Final Four.
Having booked their spot in the competition’s semi finals with a quarter final win over Dinamo Zagreb, 183-178 in the series. Matthew Otten’s side face German powerhouse Syntainics MBC in their own backyard this Wednesday (22nd April) as all four remaining teams head to Germany.
It’s the furthest a Manchester team has ever reached in Europe, a landmark moment for the franchise in only its second season.
Travelling fans will be able to watch a two-day feast of European basketball, with the other semi final between Dziki Warszawa and CSO Voluntari tipping off at 4pm before Manchester’s semi final at 7pm UK time. The next day will see both the third/fourth place playoff and the ENBL final!
Captain Zak Irvin said in a statement: “We are really proud to be representing this city on the European stage.
“We have had a great run in the competition to get to the final four in just our second season, but we aren’t content with that.
“Syntainics MBC have a strong team and we are very much looking forward to playing them in front of their home fans next week.”
It’s been quite a season for the franchise already who have both men’s and women’s teams playoff bound, as well as both teams making the SLB Cup Final at the AO Arena in Manchester last month.
CEO Claire Bradbury commented: “As a young club, reaching the Cup final, European playoffs and League playoffs is a reflection of the philosophy and culture we’re building here. It’s a privilege to represent Manchester and take that northern grit to the court. As we work to build the franchise and basketball in the North-West, achievements like this play an important role in supporting those commercial goals”.
You can watch the games on the Manchester Basketball Youtube channel and a preview show tonight at 7pm (UK time)!
