
Manchester Basketball beat Surrey 89ers at home 94-80 in the Super League Basketball Championship.
Tim Adetukasi led Manchester with 22 points and 5 rebounds, going a perfect 9-9 from the field in an impressively efficient display. Gabe Osabuohien supported him with 15 points and 9 rebounds, a near-double-double off the bench.
Manchester won the bench battle 40-11, blowing away the Niners with their strength in depth. Every Manchester player who took to the court contributed with points.
They led the game nearly wire-to-wire, going up 10-2 early in the opening quarter, then fending off Surrey’s attempts at a comeback throughout the first half. They then put the game to bed in the third, as Adetukasi put the team up 20 points.
Surrey had one last gasp late in the day. They chipped the lead down to single digits with less than two minutes remaining through a bucket from Ronald Polite III. But it was too little, too late, and the advantage Manchester had built throughout the game proved enough to secure the victory.
The game completes a 3-0 week for Manchester, who picked up a momentous win in the European North Basketball league against BK Opava, and knocked off the league-leading London Lions at the Copper Box Arena on Friday. These results made it a pivotal week of action for the club.
Manchester Basketball is back in action after Christmas, taking on their local rivals, Cheshire Phoenix, on the road. The game will be played on Sunday, December 28, at 5:30 pm.
They don’t return home until after the New Year. The Sheffield Sharks come to town on Friday, January 9, with the game starting at the NBPC at 7.30pm - tickets are available here.
