Manchester Basketball beat Surrey 89ers 79-67 in the first Super League Basketball game of the season.

Chandler Piggé and Luke Nelson led the way in Manchester's home opener, with Piggé scoring 15 points on 6-11 shooting and Nelson adding 13 points on 5-6 from the field. Nelson also had 5 rebounds and 5 assists, while Brandon Mitchell-Day was a force at both ends with a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Manchester came out with a hot start, with captain Nelson making a layup and assisting a Mitchell-Day dunk, putting the team on a 4-0 run to start the game. Nelson ended the quarter leading all scorers with 8 points, whilst Jordan Johnson showed it's back to business with a steal into a fast break layup and a three point make to end the quarter when MCR lead 18-11.

Going into the second quarter the game was tightly contested with Surrey running the score close but a combination of the Keon Thompson and Chandler Piggé going on a 6-1 to end the quarter, sealed off by Thompson's buzzer beater saw MCR come into the second half up 36-30.

Manchester kept up the momentum in the second half, Charlie Williams hitting a three to push the score out to 10 pt lead, 89ers were not done and brought the scores closer however, the fourth quarter saw Kayne Henry set the tone with a steal into a fast break dunk! Manchester finished strong and ended the first game back in the NBPC victors, 79-67.
