Manchester Basketball are through to the last 16 of the ENBL following their 94-72 win on the road to Norwegian side Gimle Basketball.
Jordan Johnson took CultureBox Player of the Game honours, leading the team with 20 points and 8 rebounds in an impressive display off the bench. He continued his run of hot form by shooting 7-12 from the field.
Max Jones led the starters with 15 points. Meanwhile, Nicholson dominated the paint in Norway, grabbing 11 rebounds on the night.
Manchester overwhelmed Gimle with their speed and athleticism in transition. Their 24 fastbreak points to Gimle’s 8 was the difference in the game, and their opponents had no answers for their strength in depth. Manchester won the bench battle 46-6.
That was thanks to contributions from Kayne Henry, who scored 14, and Kyle Carey, who scored 10 points in the game. These performances won the game for Manchester.
It was a convincing victory from start to finish, as the visitors jumped out to a 32-14 lead after the opening quarter of action. They started the game up 19-4, and never allowed the hosts to lead from the opening tip.
From there, it was a case of seeing the game out professionally and keeping Gimle at arm’s length. The second and third quarters saw the hosts chip into Manchester’s lead, making it a six-point game with a quarter remaining, but it was the visitors who saw the game out emphatically.
Johnson dominated the fourth. He scored 13 in the period to put the game to bed, hitting a dagger three with five minutes left in the game to put Manchester up 15 points.
Manchester are now 4-2 in the ENBL and through to the last-16.
