Manchester Basketball fell 116-90 on the road to the Cheshire Phoenix in the Super League Basketball Championship.

Pjay Smith Jr. led the team with 19 points, and Jordan Johnson logged a double-double off the bench with 12 points and 13 assists. Meanwhile, Tim Adetukasi continued his impressive run of form with 15 points.

Cheshire had a red-hot shooting performance, making 44% of their triples in a game in which they led from start to finish. Patrick Robinson led their efforts with 27 points in 26 minutes off the bench.

The hosts had a hot start that Manchester were unable to recover from. They led 21-9 through five minutes. After trailing by over 20 points in the second, Manchester cut their deficit to 12 following a free throw from Adetukasi, but the Phoenix led 64-44 at the break.

Manchester battled to the final buzzer, but didn’t make significant inroads into Cheshire’s advantage in the final two quarters, as the hosts saw the game out. Their record is now 7-5 on the season.

Manchester are back in action on Tuesday, December 30. They head to Scotland to play the Caledonia Gladiators at 7pm. They return home on Friday, January 9, taking on the Sheffield Sharks at the National Basketball Performance Centre at 7.30pm.
