Manchester Basketball picked up their first win of pre-season with a win over hosts Brussels Basketball 63-68.
Max Jones led the scoring throughout, posting up a game-high 24 points to be named Player of the Game.
Manchester led after each quarter starting with an 11-15 lead at the end of a low scoring the first, Kayne Henry and Jones making the early running with 6 pts each. Brussels rallied early in the second but MCR were still ahead at the break with a two point lead, 25-27.
The third saw Manchester push out the lead to as many as 12, the score was at 42-49 as the quarter closed. With Tim Adetukasi and Matt Nicholson switching in the big spot throughout, Manchester’s mobility around the basket proved vital.
Jones’ 24 points were supported by Smith Jr who scored 15, and Adetukasi who posted up 10 pts.
The game finished 63-68 giving Coach Matthew Otten his first win and set the side up nicely for the Landolt Cup in Switzerland next week. Manchester will be back in Brussels in October when they face the same team in the ENBL.
