Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
The Director of Performance leads the medical programme, implementing and creating an athlete-first precedent, supporting the overall team medical goals.
- Develop and deliver the protocols and principles in place for the Club (and Academy as that pathway develops), in line with the playing schedule and playing style
- Oversee all medical departments and components of the organisation, including staff
- Handle all administrative duties involving all athletes in regard to medical performance
- Oversee and handle all daily communications with the front office, management, ownership, and coaching staff
- Oversee all administration and communication in line with daily team occurrences as it pertains to training, games, player welfare, doctor visits
- Provide a clear plan and development for the physio, S&C, and all members of the performance staff
- Make sure all administrative duties are completed in the off-season in regard to set up for the upcoming year, including equipment, materials, and gear
- Facilitate sponsorships and partnerships with medical providers, doctors, universities and any potential affiliate for athlete well-being
- Create an individualised plan for each athlete for; pre-hab, rehab, in-training management
- Provide a clear structure and emphasise for how each athlete will be seen for all of their needs, in pre-training, post-training, pre-game, post-game
- Create a daily communication flow to the entire coaching staff and front office so that all members are notified a day in advance of athlete availability to avoid any instances where they cannot properly prepare
- Facilitate and organise all medical screenings, scans, doctor communications, visits to doctors/hospitals, and any instance of tending to an athlete for injury and illness; the Director of Performance is responsible for getting the athletes attending to all scans, visits, doctor assessments in a precise and timely manner, which must be communicated to the Head Coach and GM immediately
- Create a written assessment and tracking log of all medical instances that occur throughout the day, with the exception of daily occurrences such as taping and icing
- Ensure that all medical equipment is forecasted and presented to the GM and Team Manager in the off-season to ensure cost control
- Provide a live log and tracking of all medical equipment and stay in frequent communication with the Team Manager for any additional needs
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
- 10+ years of Medical and Performance experience in a sports club
- Certified credentials and specifications
- First aid trained
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent relationship management skills particularly with athletes
- Professionalism under pressure
- Experience with GPS tracking/data platforms
- Excellent analytical understanding and interpretation
- Experience in athlete nutrition
Desirable:
- Experience in basketball
- Experience in public speaking
